2022 Healthcare Supplier Diversity Summit Annual Summit.

The Healthcare Supplier Diversity Summit was developed to deliver innovative educational programming to healthcare leaders and suppliers. Each summit will highlight practical strategies to help diverse suppliers improve agility and bring value to all stakeholders in the healthcare supply chain though sessions focused on developing innovation, building capacity, and capitalizing on healthcare reform.

We hope that you will join us as we seek to improve agility in the healthcare supply chain through the key areas of education, innovation, and establishing partnerships. Diverse suppliers are critical to the future success of the healthcare industry.

Speakers

Angela Wilkes

Angela specializes in Business Growth Strategies. Known for her skill at forging partnerships with key business leaders to achieve business goals. She has lead the Healthcare Distribution Industry with her experience in driving initiatives that link diversity to an organization’s strategic business objectives, its marketplace, and long-term sustained culture change.

Currently, she serves as the President /CEO of A. T. Wilkes & Associated. She champions profitable business development and growth via her strong connections and relationships with C-suite leaders. drawing on her expertise in minority and women-owned business development, community relations, sales growth, training and customer relations. Her efforts have garnered numerous prestigious national, state and local awards and recognitions for her company and for herself.

Angela represents Owens & Minor’s commitment to its communities as an active member of several local and national organizations and committees. She was recently appointed to the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Supplier Diversity Advisory Board. 

 She is the Founder and Board Chair of the Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance (HDSA), Chair of the Virginia Chapter of the National Associations of Health Services Executives (NAHSE.) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council (VMSDC) and the University of Richmond Dean’s Advisory Council.

Angela has also held board positions on the Better Business Bureau of Richmond, and the YMCA of Greater Richmond.

Angela initiated and spearheads The Healthcare Supplier Diversity Symposium, an annual symposium hosted by Owens & Minor. The symposium brings together representatives from across the healthcare supply chain to encourage the development of partnerships, innovative products and services, and ideas that will help healthcare better serve our increasingly diverse society.

Millie Maddocks

Millie Maddocks has spent nearly all of her working career in the healthcare industry. It has been the focus of her energy, the source of her creativity and her life’s passion. She says that, “Working in an industry where caring professionals make miracles happen every day has been one of the truly gratifying experiences of my life.”

MAC Medical is a woman-owned business certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. MAC Medical is a sourcing, logistics, distribution and contract packing company with a national customer base; headquartered in Chicago with a 70,000 square foot distribution center in Northwest Indiana. MAC Medical has consistently delivered quality products and excellent service. MAC Medical’s primary customers are hospitals, large medical distributors and federal agencies. MAC holds a number of contracts with Group Purchasing Organizations, VA Hospitals and the Department of Defense. In 2004, MAC was chosen as a Protégé of Owens & Minor, a Fortune 500 company, in the DOD Mentor-Protégé program. In 2019, MAC Medical was chosen as a protégé in the mentor-protégé program with Cardinal Health.

 

Millie’s experience in both the client and supplier side of the health care industry has given her unique insights into the demands of the industry. She views clients as business partners whose success is a reflection of the commitment each makes to the other. She extends this philosophy to suppliers as well. By developing close and mutually satisfying supplier relationships, she is able to afford greater flexibility in purchasing and sales, and, in turn, pass these benefits on to her clients.

Millie is a very active member of the WBDC (Women’s Business Development Center) located in Chicago. She is a board member of the HSDA (Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance). She was also chosen in 2009-2010 as a protégé of the Entrepreneur Mentoring Program, an Inc Magazine-William J. Clinton Foundation partnership. She is also a member of WIPP (Women Impacting Public Policy) and the PWH (Professional Women in Healthcare). In 2019, MAC Medical was chosen as a protégé in the mentor-protégé program with Cardinal Health. Millie is a member of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). She has mentored many woman entrepreneurs throughout her career.

Devon Ray

An advisory and founding member of A.T. Wilkes & Associates, Devon Ray is an MBA level sourcing professional who uses cross industry experience to develop cost saving techniques based on diverse supplier integration, sustainability, improved productivity, and stronger supplier relationships.

Currently, Devon is the Supplier Diversity Lead at Reynolds Consumer Products and is responsible for developing and implementing the diverse supplier strategy across the company. Prior to Reynolds, Devon worked at travel concessionaire HMSHost where she tackled many roles including creating the supplier diversity and mentoring program, centralizing indirect procurement contracts and enhancing supply chain flexibility and strategic advantage by establishing relationships with local vendors and councils. 

Through her efforts supply chain risk exposure was reduced, new opportunities were identified and over $10 million was saved. Prior to HMSHost, Devon held positions in supply chain management with companies such as MeadWestvaco, Owens & Minor and Avon Products.

Devon graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Transportation & Logistics from North Carolina A&T State University and holds an MBA in Supply Chain Management and Innovation/
Entrepreneurship from Penn State University.

She is also a Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Green Belt, an ISO 9001.2008 Lead Auditor, certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL), ServSafe certified and holds an Executive Legal Certification from Vanderbilt University School of Law.

Rita Ricks

Rita Caldwell Ricks is unlike any other person on the speaking circuit, because she coaches everyone in her view. Her wisdom, wit, energy and encouragement are the catalysts to inspire her listeners to renew the person within. She speaks to your spirit by sharing her own life experiences. She is a Spiritual Coach, Business Coach, Inspirational Speaker, Workshop Facilitator, Award winning Entrepreneur and Author.

Rita began her career as a middle school teacher and her gifts have led her to being a successful entrepreneur for over 35 years – first as a partner in a fashion boutique, then the founder and CEO of Mirror Enterprise INC. (MEI) a professional and personal development training company.

As a Spiritual Coach, Rita coaches her clients to move from Confusion to Clarity…from a life of feeling stressed out, frustrated and stuck to one of total joy and fulfillment. Her purpose is to show her clients how to remove the barriers preventing them from creating the life they were born to live and enjoy a more fulfilled life of Purpose, Peace and Passion. She offers Laser(one on one) Coaching and Group Coaching.

Rita facilitates new Virginia: Scaling4Growth offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia to small business owners. It is a six month program designed to be a practical, case based, peer learning focused program. Focus areas are Business and Leadership, Financial Management, Marketing and Sales and Resource Management.

She earned her B.S. in Sociology from Virginia State University and her M.Ed. in Adult Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She received executive management certificates from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Dr. Celesia Valentine

Dr. Valentine joined Natera as the Regional Director for the Carolina’s on November 16, 2020. Dr. Valentine has over 25 years of Professional Expertise in New Business Development, Sales Leadership, Client Development & Management, Marketing, Analytics, Financial Management, and Community Engagement.

Dr. Valentine has a Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Business Development from Lynn University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Philadelphia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Valentine received her Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt from Florida International University.

Dr. Valentine serves as a member of the following boards: Professional Advisory Board, NorthCentral University School of Health Sciences, the Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative, and served on the board for “Healthy 

Thoughts,” a nonprofit organization that spreads stroke awareness in the community and supports stroke survivors and their families.

Dr. Valentine is a member of the National Medical Association (NMA), the largest and oldest national organization representing African American physicians and their patients in the United States. The National Association of Health Services Executives held the office of Chapter President for the FL, President-elect for the SC Chapter, and served on the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee Chair for the FL Chapter and the Chartis Group Foundation Committee.

She is passionate about raising awareness about healthcare issues and initiatives impacting underserved communities.
